Student Loan Repayment Program

CIVMARs are eligible to apply for the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP), which would give them the opportunity to apply for up to $10,000 a year for qualified student loan repayments for a maximum repayment amount of $60,000. CIVMARs will be able to apply for the SLRP upon their first day of employment using the MSC SLRP Application Form. CIVMARs who are eligible will have a service agreement associated with each annual award of loan repayment. This is a 3 year commitment, which can run concurrently.

Program Eligibility

  • The loan must be to an eligible federally-made, insured, or guaranteed, student loan covered by Part B of title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, a loan made under part D or E of title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 or a health education assistance loan made or insured under part A of the Public Health Service Act or under part E of title VIII of such Act. Examples of types of loans include the Federal Plus loan, federal consolidation loans, William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program, and Federal Perkins Loans.
  • The loan must have been disbursed prior to the signing of a service agreement and approval of a SLRP payment.
  • Eligible employee/selectees may be considered for student loan repayment benefit up to $10,000 per fiscal year, with a $60,000 lifetime maximum for any individual.
